The fine art history of Lithuania is rooted in folklore. Folk art built around folklore, and mythology have shaped the traditional art forms of the country. Today, the fine art of today and the fine artists who create the art in Lithuania vary. Popular artists such as Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis and Vytautas Kairiūkštis have inspired the work of today. From the year 1904-1909 Konstantinas Čiurlionis explored the analogies between music and the visual arts.
